IPD Intake Plenum

IPD's aluminum intake plenum for the 987 Boxster/Cayman, sold in three configurations depending on your car and goals: a 74mm plenum matched to the factory 74mm throttle body for a broad, midrange-focused gain (up to 14hp/12 lb-ft around 5,600rpm), a 'Competition' plenum using the larger 997 GT3 82mm throttle body for cars already running a cat-back exhaust and other mods, and a 2.7L plenum for naturally aspirated cars (up to 25hp/22 lb-ft). All three replace the factory plastic 'Y' distributor with IPD's patented aluminum design, and none require an ECU flash or trigger a check engine light. The plenum won't fit the 68mm throttle body fitted to early 987s, so confirm which throttle body your car has before ordering.
Frequently asked
Which cars does the IPD Intake Plenum fit?
Fits your 987 Boxster. Fabspeed lists this piece for: Porsche 987 Boxster/Cayman (2005-2008). Exact fitment for your year, trim and options is confirmed on your free consult before anything is ordered.
What does the price include?
The delivered price includes the part from Fabspeed USA, freight to Australia, import costs and GST. Enter your postcode to refine delivery; the final figure is confirmed on consult.
How long until it arrives?
Every Fabspeed part is made in-house at Fabspeed USA with about a one-week production lead time, then allow another 3-4 days for delivery to Australia via UPS. That freight is already included in the price.
Which configuration should I choose?
It depends on your car and mods — the 74mm plenum suits stock or lightly modified Cayman S cars, the Competition (82mm) plenum suits cars already running a cat-back exhaust and other upgrades, and the 2.7L plenum is for naturally aspirated Boxster/Cayman models.
Will this fit my early 987 with the 68mm throttle body?
No. IPD states this plenum does not work with the 68mm throttle body fitted to early 987s.
Does installing this trigger a check engine light?
No, as long as it's installed correctly there shouldn't be any fault codes, though a throttle body upgrade alongside it may need a dealer adaptation.
Which option should I choose?
The four listings are physically different parts, not just price tiers — pick based on your throttle body and goals: the 74mm and Competition (82mm) packages include a matching throttle body, while the two 'Intake Plenum Only' listings are for the 3.4L S and 2.7L cars that just need the plenum itself.
Who installs it?
Rennen Motorsport in Adelaide, or an authorised dealer near you. Fitting it yourself may also be an option depending on the part, so raise it on your consult; professional installation is quoted separately.
Is it covered by warranty?
Fabspeed products carry the manufacturer's warranty, supported locally through Rennen Plus as the Australian principal. See our returns policy.
Can I just buy this outright, or do I need to talk to someone first?
Every enquiry, whether it's one part or a full build, starts with a free consult. We confirm the exact spec for your car before anything is quoted or ordered.
