Its carbon tub weighs less than luggageThe 4C's carbon-fibre passenger tub is built by outside specialist Adler Plastic in Airola and weighs just 65kg on its own, with the full chassis including its aluminium subframes totalling around 107kg. The finished monocoque is then shipped to Maserati's factory in Modena, where the 4C is actually assembled rather than at an Alfa Romeo plant.

No power steering, by deliberate choiceAlfa Romeo built the 4C with no power assistance for its steering at all, a decision made specifically to save weight and preserve unfiltered road feel rather than a cost-cutting compromise. At around 900kg, the car was light enough that its engineers judged unassisted steering both feasible and true to the brand's driving-feel priorities, a trait few modern production cars still offer.
