The last Ferrari sold new with a stickFerrari quietly dropped the manual gearbox option from the California range in 2012 with the arrival of the California 30, meaning the earliest California coupes are among the very last new Ferraris a buyer could order with three pedals. Across the whole 2008 to 2017 run, only a handful of manual cars were ever built.

Enzo didn't want to build the car it's named afterThe original 1957 250 GT California Spyder only exists because Ferrari's American importer Luigi Chinetti and Californian dealer Jon von Neumann pushed hard for an aggressive open two-seater, something Enzo Ferrari was initially reluctant to add alongside the existing 250 GT Cabriolet. Their persistence produced the car the modern California borrowed its name from more than fifty years later.
