The factory cables are known to eventually break, and Numeric Racing designed this set to eliminate the excess play that causes that failure, sharpening shift engagement in the process. It's a DIY install, though Numeric Racing recommends their 27mm bulkhead cable wrench to make the job easier, and the set is backed by their limited lifetime warranty. Some owners notice a bit more noise or vibration through the new metal cable ends, which the optional insulation tubing is designed to quiet down.
