Fob Replacement (F2)

The F2 is a backup key fob for the Porsche 993 that avoids the factory programming process entirely, which many 993 owners find impossible anyway once ignition switch contacts age past a certain point. Rather than teaching the immobilizer to recognise a new fob, the F2 pairs to a fob that's already been programmed to the car: hold the two together and press both buttons until the F2's LED starts flashing, and it's ready in about 10 seconds. Day to day it works exactly like the OEM fob, one press to lock and one to unlock, and only needs re-selecting with three presses if you swap between fobs. A lithium coin cell replaces the OEM's leaky 12V alkaline battery, rated for a 10-year shelf life and over 30,000 operations.
Frequently asked
Does the Fob Replacement (F2) fit my 911 Carrera?
This listing is specific to the Porsche 911 Carrera (993). Exact fitment for your year, trim and options is confirmed on your free consult before anything is ordered.
What does the price include?
The delivered price includes the part from Fabspeed USA, freight to Australia, import costs and GST. Enter your postcode to refine delivery; the final figure is confirmed on consult.
How long until it arrives?
Every Fabspeed part is made in-house at Fabspeed USA with about a one-week production lead time, then allow another 3-4 days for delivery to Australia via UPS. That freight is already included in the price.
Do I need to program this to my car's immobilizer?
No. The F2 pairs to another fob that's already programmed to the car, not to the immobilizer itself, so there's no PIN code or ignition key sequence involved.
How long does pairing take?
About 10 seconds: hold the F2 and a paired "donor" fob together and press both buttons until the F2's LED starts flashing.
Which frequency do I choose?
315MHz or 433MHz, matching the frequency your 993's existing fobs use.
Which option should I choose?
Match the frequency to your car's existing fobs (315MHz or 433MHz); check an existing OEM fob if you're not sure which your 993 uses.
Who installs it?
Rennen Motorsport in Adelaide, or an authorised dealer near you. Fitting it yourself may also be an option depending on the part, so raise it on your consult; professional installation is quoted separately.
Is it covered by warranty?
Fabspeed products carry the manufacturer's warranty, supported locally through Rennen Plus as the Australian principal. See our returns policy.
Can I just buy this outright, or do I need to talk to someone first?
Every enquiry, whether it's one part or a full build, starts with a free consult. We confirm the exact spec for your car before anything is quoted or ordered.
