IPD's cast aluminium intake plenum for the Porsche 986 Boxster, in versions matched to the 2.7-litre and 3.2-litre (Boxster S) engines, each paired with an upgraded 74mm throttle body up from the factory 68mm. The patented "Y"-shaped inlet and dimpled interior smooth airflow and increase intake air speed compared to the factory plastic unit, delivering power gains of roughly 8 to 10 percent through the mid-range depending on the model, on both stock and modified cars. Aluminium construction resists the heat soak that affects plastic intakes, and installation uses the factory hardware without needing an ECU flash, though IPD recommends a trained Porsche technician fit it.

Frequently asked

Which cars does the IPD Intake Plenum fit?

Fits your 986 Boxster. Fabspeed lists this piece for: Porsche 986 Boxster and Boxster S (2000-2004). Exact fitment for your year, trim and options is confirmed on your free consult before anything is ordered.

What does the price include?

The delivered price includes the part from Fabspeed USA, freight to Australia, import costs and GST. Enter your postcode to refine delivery; the final figure is confirmed on consult.

How long until it arrives?

Every Fabspeed part is made in-house at Fabspeed USA with about a one-week production lead time, then allow another 3-4 days for delivery to Australia via UPS. That freight is already included in the price.

Which version do I need, 2.7 or 3.2?

Choose the plenum that matches your engine: 2.7-litre for the base Boxster, 3.2-litre for the Boxster S.

Will this trigger a check engine light or need an ECU flash?

No, IPD plenums shouldn't cause a check engine light or need a re-flash, though a throttle body adaptation may be needed after install.

Can I install it myself?

It's a relatively straightforward bolt-on with the included hardware, but IPD strongly recommends having a trained Porsche technician perform the install.

Which option should I choose?

Pick the plenum that matches your engine, not your trim level: the 2.7-litre version is for the base Boxster and the 3.2-litre version for the Boxster S, both include the matching 74mm throttle body upgrade.

Who installs it?

Rennen Motorsport in Adelaide, or an authorised dealer near you. Fitting it yourself may also be an option depending on the part, so raise it on your consult; professional installation is quoted separately.

Is it covered by warranty?

Fabspeed products carry the manufacturer's warranty, supported locally through Rennen Plus as the Australian principal. See our returns policy.

Can I just buy this outright, or do I need to talk to someone first?

Every enquiry, whether it's one part or a full build, starts with a free consult. We confirm the exact spec for your car before anything is quoted or ordered.
